The latest break with writing my blogs was due to some total mental exhaustion. I felt unable to write whatsoever, not only about totally useless, or usefull things, but also about cats, or about my skulls, etc.etc.
On the 28th of February I was able to take several flower shots and wanted to share some of these with you now. The above one is the one with magic. You will be able to view it Large and on Black if you click on the link under the photo, and on the next page - on the link where is written: View on Black
This one is an experiment with again a mirror, and not much light and no flash. What is fascinating me here is the illusion that created itself somehow…Check the leaf coming from behind the orchid and ending above the left hand side of the mirror No layers used or Post Processing whatsoever to create it… Tell me what do you think please, and how did this happen? I have no answer for it myself and kept re-playing in my mind over and over again how I took this capture, but there is no explanation for it whatsoever. So, I would love to hear your thoughts in regards.
This one here is taken on the same day, and in the garden house of a friend of mine. It’s all covered with glass, and there is heating, and due to it they are enjoying some of the most beautiful plants and flowers the year around…;) and yup, some strike it rich … As here in The Netherlands is too cold yet for these beauties to bloom outside.
Hoping that all of you are enjoying your weekend and the start of March. Lets hope that Spring will soon be here and the sunshine will be more that it is now. We all need light, and the sun is the best provider of light. Not only for the vitaly important vitamine D, but also to fight the winter depression. And the winter depression is mostly due to lack of sun shine… Talk to you soon!
As I promised last night, here is a composite of the latest Total Lunar Eclipse, taken by Brian - JP Photography. He graciously consented when I asked him if I may post it on totally-useless and here it is. By clicking on the links under the photo you will go to his photo stream, where he uploaded a photo of Saturn with his rings today Wishing you all a very nice weekend and talk to you soon.
The digital art here above represents what a Lunar Eclipse Watcher from outer space must be seeing when looking at it from there, the other side of the Sun and the Moon… And you could see the disappointment in the eyes of the Watcher…
And as you could imagine I wasn’t able to see the total eclipse at all. Earlier in the evening I did take several shots of the full moon, but later on the clouds became too many and there was nothing to be seen anymore.
Thanks for the fact that on Bob’s blog were the 1st photos of the Eclipse that I saw, and you could too if you have not already. On Flickr I saw several composites of the various stages of the Eclipse also, and might be able to post one for you later on.
Wishing you a great weekend my friends, and will talk to you soon.
To all the readers of the Totally Useless I wish (with these captures taken by yours truly) a Splendid and Happy Valentine’s day And that you may spread Love in all it’s forms to every one in your life and get as much, or even more in return
This is the cake that we will taste tonight, and I wanted to share with you my friends how it looks at least…and you could tell I did try a little bit of the cream above…and am sorry that I ruined it a bit … The small piece above with the lips on it has a writing on that states: You’re the dearest And no, it was not prepared by me…
An improvisation with 6 hearts candles and a few baloons with hearts on these - and I was told that the Love is shining through it
This is one of the photos of the New Years Eve celebration with me wearing the mask of othe few captures of mine from last December
and the old year. The title seemed appropriate for it, and with it I’d like to wish all of totally-useless.com readersa a truly Star Bright 2008
And here is one of these shots for you
Be well, and stay healthy and Happy during 2008 my friends
With a bit of fun for the 1st Christmas day instead of the usual card
Merry Christmas dear friends and enjoy it with family and friends as much as you can
The Christmas celebrations are going to be sooner that we think as time seems to pass quicker, especially for children awaiting their school holidays, and the presents they’ve been dreaming for But, it is not only children that are getting their presents, and mine arrived today Yes my friends, today I did receive the Canon EOS 40D SLR camera, and am so glad to have finally this camera
A friend of mine, Dan, also called bebalance on Flickr.com is one of the best rock and stones balancing artists that I have ever seen. The shots he presents daily on Flickr are mostly set on videos too, and these could be watched at youtube.com.
Especially for Christmas Dan has balanced Santa on top of his latest work of ZEN art, and here you can see it for yourself.
Wishing you a great week ahead my friends and a safe and Merry Christmas with your family and dear once. I’ll take sometime off in order to learn how to make the best possible shots with my new camera, and will post just before Christmas again. Talk to you soon
As the title is stating, Totally-Useless was tagged by Devon on his blog . So, I will have to write 7 weird facts about myself and then tag 7 more bloggers to do the same.
These are the rules: Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog. Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post, and include links to their blogs. Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
Here we go than with the 7 weird facts about myself:
1) Getting easily bored when things to do become routine, so I ditch whatever it is that is boring me and start working - doing something new. My motto behind it is - Life is too short to stay bored
2) Unable to finish writing my 1st and only book - it is either a writers block or this book is worthless.
3) Hate and fear pain, and being ill.
4) Would love to be able to do bungee jumping, para gliding and sky diving, but in order to do that I will need to have some expensive devices around my knees and ancles, or I will break my leggs while landing.
5) Dream about traveling among the stars, and at times these dreams are very realistic.
6) When I feel happy a conversation with me is lighter than air, more delicious than candy, and as entertaining as the Matrix trilogy, or even more than that…
7) Love to keep myself busy with paradoxes and alchemy.
These are the blogs and their bloggers that I am tagging:
For most of us the environment is a very important topic. Today is an Action Blog Day and you could read more about it on BlogActionDay.org
Maybe you wonder what could you do to preserve the environment and to not be part of the ever increasing problem world-wide? In our household we are using green electricity. We also have the house very well isolated and use as little as possible heating. Also, all the lamps we use in our house are of the energy saving lamp type. If each and everyone of us will choose to preserve the environment and do their best to use less energy I think we will be one step closer to preserving our Earth from warming up too much and too soon. Every bit helps people.
And think please of what would you sacrifice to keep this beauty alive for the following generations. Also, try to imagine our Earth no longer providing us with the beautiful air that we are breathing, and look at when we watch the sky at sunset or at sunrise? Think please, and while thinking start doing something about it. No matter how small it might seem to you. It counts!
Being back to my blog and to writing after a few days of rest is like having been on a short trip without the notebook, or without an Internet connection. It’s kind of like having been to the mountains in Swiss, like on this awesome shot here. But I wasn’t there, and never left home. The new cat that we adopted gave me a big scratch and nearly took my right eye off. Not much damage was done but due to the scratches and the pain I had - I didn’t want to do the writing and reading with the use of only my left eye.
Here is a photo of Sylvester for you to see. He is huge really, and twice as heavy when compared to my other 6 cats. He is very, very sweet, polite and loving, except for when other cats interfere with the attention he is getting. He is not used to sharing HIS humans. But I hope all will be solved with time as I really want to keep him here.
Totally Useless is all about my personal philosophy, and how I interpret what is happening
in our lifetime, what is important to us, and how
come. It is about all those things that often
appear as totally useless but mostly are not.
