Why people are, or pretend to be so mean spirited?
On August 13th 2010 the following article called “A bum you can trust – honest!”, about the Most Honest Homeless Man in the City of NY got my attention. And for me both the giver as the receiver were to be commended – the first for her generosity and trust toward this unknown to her homeless guy, and to him for being trustworthy and honest guy no matter his current circumstances. How do you feel in regards? And would you give your credit card to a homeless person if asked for a contribution? I always give some cash, and it is mostly a few bucks at a time. Others would rather buy food and something to drink, but I think that a homeless person is free to choose what they want to buy and don’t need to be condescended. I am really curious about your views here. The reason for this post is that most of commenter’s on the above mentioned article were so very mean spirited, and I felt annoyed just like I was on another article sometime ago.

I’ve seen this kind of trust happening in western countries only like when I was travelling on the country roads in Australia. The farmer left the stall unattended and asked that the buyer just drop the money in the money-box.
Now, neither this nor the above honest homeless man could happen here in my country. Even if I would like to trust the homeless man, our culture teaches us to cautious and avoid any possible problem. Better safe than be sorry.

I say this one was the lucky one, and she was lucky to spot the trusted man, especially homeless. I been scammed couple of times who collect donation, so it is hard for me to trust. Well money didn’t really matter to her at that point. The thing is even if he wasn’t trustworthy, she could have easily reported her card stolen, and got all her money back. Thanks for sharing another great story Tatiana. Anna

It’s really difficult in this age to find someone like the kind-hearted executive. Perhaps she was lucky this time that the homeless man is, maybe, one-in-a-thousands honest person.
I don’t think similar gesture will happen in my country as nowadays people tend to be very protective of themselves and suspicious of unknown strangers. It’s just there are too many con-men around here.
Thanks for sharing this amazing story.
