Imagine you have tried for a good while to achieve something. You have worked hard, and day after day you kept doing you best, and you kept doing it for a year. The day came that you lost the faith, and it became so cumbersome that you stopped trying, and stopped working on it.
Than the “looser, you’re a looser, and will always be a looser” voice inside your head, made his entrance again. And you remembered the voice of a teacher, that told you sometime ago, that just before achieving something you should be careful to not give up, as the results might be just around the next corner.
Now imagine the same story, but with the good ending. After all your hard work - you did achieve what you hoped for, and success is all yours! You have it, and you congratulate yourself with it, and receive the congratulations of others also. However the pleasure of the achievement is short lived.
So, don’t you wonder how come we get tired of yearning for better circumstances in our life, tired to have hopes for better this and better that, and when we have it, after a few hours, or at most, a day - we don’t even care about it anymore, and start hoping for something else? These is what troubles me, that we do so much to get something and when we finally have it - we don’t even care for it. The truth is - we are never satisfied, no matter how much we achieve, we keep hoping to achieve more, better, bigger, and we never seem to have enough. On one side our striving is commendable, but on the other side, it’s so stupid, as most of “stuff” and “things” that we are after, do not give the satisfaction we were hoping to achieve…Don’t you think?
