Why almost everyone loves to blog?
Yesterday I had a conversation with a friend about blogging, and how come so many bloggers were using free blogger.com, or wordpress.com accounts instead of having their own domain names hosted. I don’t think it’s only the cost of having your own domain name, and a hosting account. It’s also the hassle with having to learn about FTP, and how to set up a blog on your won domain within your hosting panel, and all kind of technicalities that for most could become an issue.
And since I cannot imagine having an URL like: http://totally-useless-blogger.com or something like that I checked the possibility to set up a blog under my own domain for free, or almost for free that was sent to me by Mitch. I must admit I am one of those who are 100% guilty. I love to blog becoz it allows me to express myself (I wouldn’t say limitless) but as far as I feel it is decent enough to be share across the global borders.
I’ve already bought my own domain but to set up my own website, I am still struggling … been a year since. It quite intimidating without a 1-1 tutor next to me. I guess that’s why most us prefer the free blogger.com or wordpress.com because they made it easy for us who are less IT savvy.

I think the reason people love to blog is that it’s a great way to get your opinion or story out to a worldwide audience.
Like Wenny I went with blogger because I’m not very web savvy and also I only plan to make one post on my blog. It’s probably not worth buying a domain and hosting that I don’t really plan to use.

I like to have my own domain to keep total control over my content. I don’t have to worry about censorship, or getting bumped into an “adult” content section, or anything else like that. I guess it’s that independent streak in me, and the vanity of having my own domain that I can put on calling cards.
I used to use Blogger, but really didn’t like the limitations to it. Ah well. To each his own as they say…

You are doing the right thing already – reading and writing, and commenting on other blogs. See what news is catching your eye daily and write about it, be it your opinions in regards, or what you think about other people’s opinions. And get in touch with other journalists on BlogCatalog might be a good idea too.

Hi there! Coincidentally I was also talking to a blogger friend of mine and we were talking about hosting with GoDaddy and the pros and cons of having your own domain. One thing my friend brought up about why there are so many free blogspot or wordpress blogs is because there are a bunch of “how to make money blogging” websites out there that teach people to set up a blog using Blogger or WordPress. I think she has a good point because when I looked into how to set up my blog, well what do you know..I came across so many those sites.
