What’s the Use of Spam Commenting on Blogs if All of These Get Deleted Anyway?
Ok, correct me if I am wrong, but there is no blog online that is not spammed with viagra and cialis links, and porn, or with some stupid lines of text that have nothing to do with the post on the blog. Since I started with the totally-useless.com blog exactly 12,635 of such spammy comments have been deleted by yours truly. What’s the point in continuing with the spam I wonder, and why do these ……. keep up with it? And what could possibly make them stop trying, and stop wasting my time with deleting so many comments every time that I log in here?

Well, TheAcoliteTao, when one leaves the comments open for registered users the WordPress blog gets spam by the dozens a day if not more. They are not automatically approved however, and when placing more than one URL in their comments and certain blocked words – than the comments are placed into a spam folder by the spam preventing script such as Akismet and SpamKarma2.
And could you please explain which no follow sign are you talking about? I went to your blog a week ago and purchased your ebook, and left a comment also but it did not appear as my URL was not accepted, probably because I have no use of blogger.com and never use the account. If you have not placed the possibility for everyone to leave comments on your blogger blog and with whatever name/URL link than it will be still impossible for me to comment, but you can make it much easier for everyone to comment.

I feel your pain. Until I installed Akismet I was getting slammed with spam. I never understood the spammers. Don’t they realize that more often than not their garbage gets deleted before it becomes live? Akismet cut my spam down 99%. Almost nothing gets by nowadays.
Oh….and this post isn’t spam. I’m just a blogger who happened upon our site. Good stuff! Will be visiting often
